Overtime, calculated before you even think about it
Set your thresholds once, for example 8 hours a day, 40 a week, at 1.5× pay. Hourvy applies them to every shift and warns you before overtime happens.

Automatic overtime in Hourvy, in short
Hourvy calculates overtime automatically from clocked hours. Daily overtime starts after a worker's scheduled shift length (or your daily threshold if they have no schedule), weekly overtime starts after your weekly threshold, and overtime hours are paid at your multiplier, such as 1.5×. For workers who earn more than one rate in a week, Hourvy can use the weighted-average "regular rate" method used under the US FLSA, or the rate of the hours worked. An Overtime watch on the dashboard shows who is close to overtime this week.
Daily, weekly and multi-rate overtime, worked out correctly on every shift.
Your rules, not ours
Set the daily threshold, weekly threshold and overtime multiplier in Settings. Hourvy applies them to every shift.
Correct with more than one rate
When someone works two roles or gets a raise mid-week, choose the weighted-average method (the US federal rule) or the rate of the hours worked.
See it coming
Overtime watch lists workers close to the weekly threshold. With scheduling on, it adds their remaining shifts: "On track for 3h over".
Know what it cost
See each worker's overtime hours over the last 4 weeks and the extra premium you paid for them.
Get an email first
Switch on the alert and Hourvy emails you when a worker is close to weekly overtime, while you can still change the schedule.
Counted across jobs
Switching jobs or roles mid-week doesn't hide overtime. All of a worker's hours for the week count together.
Weighted-average overtime, worked out
A worker does 30 hours as a barista at $15 and 15 hours as a shift lead at $20 in one week, with a 40-hour weekly threshold and 1.5× overtime.
| Step | Calculation | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Straight-time pay | 30 × $15 + 15 × $20 | $750.00 |
| Regular rate | $750 ÷ 45 hours | $16.67/h |
| Overtime premium | 5 OT hours × 0.5 × $16.67 | $41.67 |
| Total for the week | $750.00 + $41.67 | $791.67 |
Up and running in three steps
- Open Settings → Overtime & Payroll and enter your daily threshold, weekly threshold and multiplier.
- Workers clock in as usual. Hourvy marks shifts that include overtime with an OT label.
- When you run payroll, each worker's regular hours, overtime hours and overtime pay are already worked out.
Good to know
- Weekly overtime is counted week by week inside a pay period, not across the whole period.
- Not sure which overtime method applies to you? Check your local rules. Workers on one rate all week are paid the same either way.

Can Hourvy calculate daily overtime as well as weekly?
Yes. Daily overtime starts after the worker's scheduled shift length, or after your daily threshold if they have no schedule that day. Weekly overtime starts after your weekly threshold.
How does Hourvy handle overtime for workers with two pay rates?
By default it uses the weighted-average regular rate: every hour is paid at its own rate, then each overtime hour gets an extra premium based on the average rate for the week. You can switch to paying the premium on the rate of the hours that went over instead.
Will I know before someone goes into overtime?
Yes. The dashboard's Overtime watch shows who is close to the weekly threshold, and you can get an email alert when a worker is about to reach it.
